Another Murder, This One In Roaring Creek
posted (March 20, 2018)
Last night's news was dominated by the 6 murders which happened over the weekend. Those 6 killings included the double murder of an elderly woman and a teenaged girl in Belize City. Well, tonight, we report on the 7th murder in only 4 days. This one happened Roaring Creek Village.

After being missing for a little over 72 hours, 24 year-old Alvin Montero's body was found floating in the river, in the area of Roaring Creek known as "Another World". His family members and police officers found chop wounds to the body, the neck, and the right side of his head.

An on-site post-mortem certified that he died from traumatic asphyxiation due to chop wound to his throat.

His family from Cayo and Roaring Creek are reeling from the gruesome nature of his murder, and today, we caught up with one of his sisters in Santa Elena Town. She told us off-camera that her brother was no trouble maker, and he certainly didn't deserve to be hacked to death with a machete:

Voice of: Loretta Montero, Sister of the Deceased
"I saw Alvin Friday when he came to look for me. Anytime he comes to Cayo he looks for me, that's one thing I can say, he will find me and tell me he's here. They said they saw him around Saturday, then Sunday my sister messaged me, so I called her to find out what happened. She said 'we can't find Alvin, I sent Deshawn to the spot where he stays'. They saw the little structure he was looking after, burnt to the ground and his bicycle was in the place. My nephew came out crying. We started to worry because we know that he wouldn't burn down a place he's looking after for someone, and worse a bicycle they lent him. When someone lends him something, he makes sure to return whatever he borrows. We started to worry because my little brother doesn't go like that without contacting any one of his sisters. If he's in trouble and not in Roaring Creek, he goes to my other sisters in Belize. Someone would have known he was missing, so I started to worry and posted it on Facebook."

"Do you and your family believe that someone took his life?"

Voice of: Loretta Montero, Sister of the Deceased
"Someone did do my little brother something and they tortured him in a cruel way. It was so sad because no one would expect him to have a chop in his head, on his throat and they tied his two hands to the back. They chopped off his hair clean where we could have seen his skull. It would've had to been more than one person to hurt him."

"It hurts because everyone is hurting by the fact that they killed him. The amount of people who misses him have texted me. Even police called to check, they couldn't believe he went missing just like that so it hurts."

His family tells us that he leaves behind 2 children, a 4 year-old daughter, and a 5-months-old son.

As you heard, he was acting as caretaker for the house in Roaring Creek, which was burnt down. The bicycle, which he borrowed, was also destroyed, and his family believes that whoever murdered him lit the structure on fire to destroy evidence.

The family expressed gratitude to the Police in Belmopan and Roaring Creek, and the friends and concerned persons who helped to search for Montero.
