Tea Party At Sister Cecilia
posted (March 20, 2018)
Last week Unicomer companies all over the world celebrated Volunteer week by assisting people and organizations in their community. In Belize, Unicomer is COURTS and they used their week to lend a helping hand to the elderly people at the Helpage and Sister Cecilia Home of Belize City. The workers took time out of their days and did some much-needed renovation at the home. We found out more.

Grisel Carballo, Unicomer Public Relations Officer
"This year we chose, last year we did HelpAge countrywide in Belize and this year we decided to partner up with them once more. We have observed that the elderly need the time to spend with them. The time for someone to say you know what let's go visit you guys and see what you're up to so this year we had started the same thing. This week it was a celebration countrywide. We had different activities at the Helpage home. This year in Belize City we partnered up not only with Helpage Belize City but also Sister Cecilia Home od the elders. It was a project ongoing we did renovations. Three weeks project we had volunteers coming in during work time to paint and renovate inside Sister Cecilia Home and renovate their kitchen as well. Today what we are doing is just an activity to say you know let's give back the time to the elder and have a tea party for them."

Bernard Adolphus, Chair Person of Sister Cecilia
"Of course it positively impacted us because of the fact that we were in need of an upliftment in the dining room and the kitchen. We are very grateful to Unicomer for doing this. We need more of this because at least by doing such a thing we make our residents more comfortable and it has helped the administration. Behind all this, it helps the supervisor and staff. Particularly the board is very grateful for events such as this because it is always good to bring them out and get them participating. That alone the bingo that they are doing right now works the brain, the mind, the fingers and that is important for us. It is a plus and we appreciate it. We hope others join the parade."

The effort was countrywide. Unicomer employees volunteered at different HelpAge home all around. In Belize City they had over 75 volunteers.
