And there is one more city murder to investigate this week.
As we told you last night Kearny Thompson died after 17 days in the hospital. He was shot on March 5th. So now, it's a murder investigation. Today at the weekly press briefing, police told us that Thompson may just have been caught in the middle of a gang rivalry.

"Reference the shooting incident with Mr. Kearny Thompson which occurred on the 2nd March 2018 where he was allegedly shot at an apartment on Vernon Street. We regret that he passed away yesterday while receiving treatment at the KHMH."
Reporter
"Where are we now in that investigation now that it is a murder?"
ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Well the investigators from the on-set were on the grounds. I know we have detained several persons who were interviewed however there was no direct link to them in regards to the shooting so they had to be released."
Reporter
"And in terms of any personal beef with anybody, have you been able to establish if he had since he wasn't known to police?"
ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Well we know that he had visited that location to see a family member who resides in that apartment but the family member was not present so he was talking to one of the tenants of the apartment that is when the shooter came and fired in his direction. Yes, he is from another gang area and where the shooting happened is another gang area as well. We don't have anything in the files to indicate that he might be a member of any of the gangs but unfortunately because we know of the rivalries between the gangs in Belize City and we believe that is the motive in that shooting."
