According to the Prensa Libre, Morales is touring the country to promote the ICJ referendum. He is quoted as saying, "The message I send to Belize is that they have a neighbor who loves them and respects them."

He discussed the 13 existing diplomatic agreements between Belize and Guatemala and ventured that if the ICJ settles the dispute, quote, "we can have more agreements and treaties that will serve for the development of our peoples. We want to improve trade and have legal certainty on both sides of the region."

He added, quote, "We are not fighting with Belize, we are claiming a historic right, we have the right to claim what belongs to us….we have a good relationship with Belize, politics and diplomacy, we are fighting for what is ours, the territory".
