Will Mose Run in Collett?
posted (April 9, 2018)
Hyde's entry into the elections for CWU presidency was unexpected, and immediately after that, rumors began circulating that he had intentions of getting into politics - where his brother Cordel is PUP Deputy leader. The rumour is that he is supposedly eying the Collet Division.

We asked him point blank: Does he really have aspirations for elected office? He told us categorically, that he does not. Here's how he explained why:

Evan Mose Hyde, New CWU President
"We see in Belize where political careers don't even need spring boards. People jump out of nowhere and become, not only politicians, but successful politicians. If a political career is what I desired, I am around enough to know how to have done that. I would have been jumping and placing myself in a position to do that. Not going into the union work that is tough to reign. I would advise myself if I could and I would say that is not the most sensible or strategic route to take. You play it safe, you find an uncontested division that you perceive to be aligned with the party of choice and you jump in, make good friends with the people who control the party and you go. That's how most do it. You don't jump into a union and decide that okay this is where I am going to make my name. So I can say this categorically that there is no molecule in me that aspires for party political life or a party political career."
