Human Dev. Correcting Caleb
posted (April 10, 2018)
Last night you heard activist Caleb Orozco's criticism of the human development department's efficiency in dealing with cases. Well, the department sent out a release re-assuring the public that it, quote, "undertakes its mandate as a protector of the rights of children, women, men, and families seriously." The release continues by highlighting the work they have done like frequently upgrading their case management system and providing rent, food, and education for some 1,229 vulnerable families through the public assistance program.

The release also addresses the allegation against one of the male human development officers. It states "the Ministry confirms receipt of an initial client complaint letter sent to the Director of the Department of Human Services and has in fact been conducting an investigation into the accusations." It continues by saying that "the Chief Executive Officer has not received the follow-up letter from the complainant's attorney."

The release then outlines the procedure that needs to be followed in cases like these and says the department is doing the necessary follow up. It ends by saying "As a Ministry, we continue to strive to abide by the principles and values of Social Justice, Equality, Equity, Family Preservation, Non-Discrimination, Participation, Respect, and Appreciation for the people being served."
