Dean Nembhard Shot; Recovering Slowly
posted (April 12, 2018)

Police were more forthcoming about their investigation into the shooting of 22 year-old Dean Nembhard which happened on Tuesday evening at around 4:30

As we told you, Nembhard was shot while he was on Holy Emmanuel Street in the St. Martin's Area. That's the dividing line between 2 rival gangs.

We asked police if his shooting signals the restart of gang-related crime, and here's what he had to say:

Wilfredo Ferrufino - Inspector, CIB
"On Tuesday the 10th sometime around 4:00 PM Mr. Dean Nembhard, 21 year old was walking on said site. He heard several shots and as a result he realized he was shot. He was taken to the KHMH and police investigation has revealed so far that he was walking on the street and unknown gunman opened fire and caused 2 gunshot wounds to his abdominal area. One person was detained for that and he is being questioned, the investigation is ongoing."

Daniel Ortiz
"Sir initial information reaching us suggested that it may be motivated by rivalries in the neighborhood. Are you able to say if similar information is getting to the investigators?"

Wilfredo Ferrufino
"I don't have that information if it is gang related so I cannot comment on that."

Nembhard's relatives tell us that his recovery is very slow at this time, and his organs in the abdomen area are at risk of permanent damage. He continues to recover at the KHMH
