Bail For Alleged Drug Traffickers
posted (April 13, 2018)
Last week, we told you how police caught 4 people in 2 vehicles coming across the northern border with a large quantity of marijuana and live rounds of ammunition. Well, after just over a week in police detention, they're out on bail tonight.

Kenyon Lewis, Phylmore King, Blancaneux, Maudel, and her sister, Michelle Benguche, applied for Supreme Court bail before Justice Marilyn Williams. After hearing from their attorney, Arthur Saldivar, and from Crown Counsel Sheneiza Smith, Justice Williams released them on bail of $25,000.

As we told you, they were intercepted in a drug smuggling operation. According to the allegation, Lewis was driving a Kia car with King in the passenger seat, while Maudel was driving a Ford Escape with Benguche in the passenger seat. As soon as the vehicles crossed the border, they pulled them over.

Acting on intelligence, when they searched the spare tire for the Ford Escape they found the ammunition and 24 parcels of cannabis. The police also reported that when they searched the spare tire of the Kia they found 12 parcels of cannabis. In total, the cops say they found 26.5 kilos, or 59 pounds of marijuana, and 28 live rounds of .380 ammunition, which were stuffed in parcels inside these spare tires.
