Mexican Casting Call In Belize
posted (April 13, 2018)
For most of today, aspiring Belizean actors were lining up at the Mexican Institute in Belize City for an audition to be part of a film called "Tragic Jungle".

It's going to be directed by the Mexican film maker Yulene Olaizola. The basic idea for the film is that there are 2 beautiful Belizean women who cross the Rio Hondo, which is the frontier between Belize an Mexico. They take refuge in the jungles in Mexico, but their pursuer eventually finds them. One of the sisters survives and escapes, only to be found be a group of Mexican "chicleros" or gum makers.

As the story progresses, that last remaining sister lures the Mexicans to their death one by one.

It's an interesting idea for a film, and today, we got a chance to meet the director, who spent the entire day trying to find Belizeans suitable to be actors in the film.

She told us that her film's premise came from her fascination with Belize and her visits here:

The casting call continues tomorrow, and ends on Sunday at the Mexican Institute. If you think you have what it takes to be part of the film are asked to come out and audition. There is no charge for the try-outs.
