The weekend's other murder happened in Ranchito Village, just outside of Corozal Town. At five minutes past midnight on Sunday morning, A shooter toting a sawed off shotgun killed 38 year old Emmanuel Evan Sosa at the Pasadina Bar - which is just off the highway.
It all started at midnight when the female bar owner was closing up and a man with a sawed off showed up at the door. Sosa sprang to her defence and confronted the gunman outside, while she locked herself inside. Police told us what happened next:

"On Sunday April 15th, sometime around 12:05am police were called to ranchito village in Corozal district. There they responded to shots being fired. On arrival they discovered the body of the Hispanic male, he was identified to be that of Emanuel Sosa, a 38 year old, labour of Ranchito Village. He was deceased on police arrival. Investigations from police indicated that the owner of the business there was closing the business when a lone gun man, a mask individual that approached the owner and Mr. Sosa intervened, he and the culprit were engaged in an argument and the individual shot him and made good his escape. Police are seeking one person of interest and that investigation is ongoing."

"Is it safe to say that Mr. Sosa, attempted to foil a robbery that was in progress?"

"Added to that can we say that Mr. Sosa was a security guard for the establishment?"

"I don't know if he was a security guard. What I know is that when the robber approach, he mentioned something of the effect of, "You will not robbed this lady", and so there was that intervention by him and that resulting in the gun man and him exchanging words and him firing a shot."
Nothing was stolen. Police say they have one suspect. Sosa was for the village and had no children.
