City Administrator Suing City Hall For Unlawful Suspension
posted (April 18, 2018)
City Manager Candice Miller was suspended two weeks ago and now she is suing her employer at City Hall.

Miller's Attorney Magali Perdomo wrote the mayor last week advising him that he the suspension did not follow proper procedure and denied Miller natural justice.

The letter explains that the mayor never specified in his letter of suspension what was the specific "misconduct" or "neglect" she was being suspended for - it just referred to "authorizing payment for expenses incurred by an employee while not engaged in the business of the council." That goes to the former mayor's father and former council employee, Joe Bradley who signed for six thousand dollars in food and beverages from a restaurant across the street from the council. The letter says that Miller "denies authorizing any payment for expenses…incurred by employees not engaged in the business of the council."

The letter says her suspension is unlawful - and concludes, quote, "we demand that you retract the unlawful suspension and allow our client to return to her lawful employment….if we do not hear from you by Monday 16th April, 2018, we are instructed by our client to take legal action on her behalf. As we understand it, there was no answer on the 16th. So it's likely that a lawsuit against the council is being prepared.
