DCP Chester Williams, Commander of Operations` "We have been doing interventions and mediation with the Majestic Alley and Jungle crowd but I will tell you that right now tensions are really high and the fact that there have been recent death within the area, have allowed those who would be able to make the peace process more easily are not really cooperating at this time. It is not something that we'll be giving up on. We will continue working with them and I'm sure that we'll be able to broker something between them to be able to have the 2 areas not be in conflict with each other. What we are also doing currently hopefully by the end of this week is have a surveillance camera installed in the majestic alley and one in Jungle. We'll be able to monitor the activities of those persons within those respective areas by way of the surveillance cameras. We have also put in place additional patrols in those areas and put a buffer between both groups to prevent either group from going to the other group area. All with a view to try and prevent the spate of shootings from occurring in those areas. We're also partnering with the churches and we met with the council of churches and have agreed in principle that one of the things will be doing is the churches will go with us in those respective areas and holding spirituality sessions with those persons in the community to see how we can help from a spiritual point of view, those people who we're trying to change in their minds and hearts to try and become more productive citizens of Belize."
