Reparations for The Ras
posted (April 20, 2018)
Last night you may have seen our interview with Ras Ruben, a committed Rastafarian who believes Belize should be doing more to investigate and make use of the cannabis plant.

Proponents say it has a whole host of uses from clothing, to shelter, to medicine, and for Rastafarians, it is a also a sacrament and a means of meditation.

So, now that the possession of 10 grams has been decriminalized - is that a welcome break for the Rastas who use marijuana as part of their religious devotion. Ras Ruben told us that they need an apology for all the years of persecution:..

Ras Ruben - Rastafarian
"The government doesn't make no steps for no reparation and I don't mean money reparations, and I don't mean money reparation. I mean repairing the damage they have done to families. Remember I have been a Rasta for all my years, so I have children that grow from 0 to big man and have family now who are Rasta. So we have bourned the cost of being who we are and now the time has come for at least some kind of verbal reparation, apology. 'We are sorry for treating you like that for this' when we realize what this could do for us. I feel bad, as a nation that we were treating our own citizens like this when we know these people culturally right. I think that the 10 grams is a step but the true step is a heretical step where you can verbally and say we feel sorry for how we were treating our Rasta."

Ras Ruben and his devotional group had a cannabis education rally this evening.
