Man Knocked Down By Ex Won’t Press Charges
posted (April 23, 2018)
This weekend, Transport Officer Roderick Jones was at the Maskall Agriculture Village Fair when he was crushed by a car - and it appears to be the result of a domestic dispute.

On Sunday morning around 2 he socializing with some friends in Maskall where he had reportedly been working earlier in the night.

Police say that a RAV 4 driven by a woman crushed him between a concrete house post, and a bicycle. Jones was transported to K.H.M.H. where he had a broken leg and a neck sprain.

Today Jones's daughter came to speak to us, explaining that the women who ran into him is his ex - and demanding that she be charged:

Kayla Jones, Daughter of Accident Victim
"He was there working and talking to an officer that was with him. One of his Ex's was trailing him. She wanted to hurt him. Finally, she caught up and saw where he was. She used her vehicle to knock down my dad. After she knocked him down she left the vehicle on him. The other officer had to reverse the vehicle off of her. Right now we don't know the state of the condition he is in. He needs to see a bone specialist. He has not seen the bone specialist so we don't know what exactly happened. The doctor is only saying that it is fractured, his neck is braced, and he is in a lot of pain."

"I can't believe she is out here driving when this is supposed to be attempted murder. They had her held at the Ladyville police station at the same said time and after that, I don't know how they let her go. She did not even go to any court, no charge. I would just want to know who could help me with this because I could lose my dad at any time."

Sahar Vasquez, reporter
"How many years have they been broken up?"

Kayla Jones, Daughter of Accident Victim
"Well, I can't answer that. I know my dad has been with his wife. Yes he has relationships outside but it was nothing to talk about. That does not give her the right to do what she did to my dad."

The police have not charged the driver or served her with an NIP. And here's why: contrary to what Jones's daughter portrays - her father is not in a touch and go medical condition. He was well enough to go to Belize rural police - in his cast - and tell them that he does not want to press charges against the woman who ran into him.
