Tonight, 24 year-old Damon Dawson, and 21 year-old Jonathan Almendarez, are out on bail after being accused of stealing $10,000 from Heritage Bank.
The allegation against both men is that Almendarez went to the Heritage Bank's San Ignacio Branch and he withdrew $10,000 from an account. Police say that Dawson, who was an employee of the bank, had processed this money for a customer, and that gave him knowledge of how to steal money.
They were arraigned today before Chief Magistrate Sharon Frazer, and apart from the joint charge of theft, Almendarez was additionally arraigned on a charge of handling stolen goods.
After hearing from their attorney and the prosecution, Chief Magistrate Frazer granted them bail in the sum of $6,000. They must report back to court on July 2, for an adjournment.
