Mexican Fraudsters Got Off One Charge, Then Faced Another
posted (April 25, 2018)
We've reported heavily on the Mexicans who are alleged bank card fraudsters, allegedly withdrawing tens of thousands of dollars from Atlantic Bank ATM's across the country.

Well, when 26 year old Belen Hernandez and 31 year old Lionel Rodriguez went before Corozal Magistrate Patricia Arana yesterday for theft, the police weren't ready. Their attorney Leslie Hamilton demanded disclosure and lead investigators Inspector Wilfred Ferrufino was forced to tell the Court that thirteen weeks after arrest, they had no evidence to provide. With that said, the Magistrate dismissed the two charges against each.

But the Police had new charges against both, and Hernandez was charged with two counts of theft from the Atlantic Bank Limited, each for $300, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Rodriguez was also charged with five counts of theft from Atlantic Bank Limited, three for $300 and two for $1,000.

The prosecution made a submission against bail on the basis of the Mexican nationals being flight risks which was upheld by Magistrate Arana. The case was adjourned to May 28th, at which time the prosecution must provide disclosure to the defense.
