Working Man Killed Because Of Someone Else’s Beef
posted (April 26, 2018)

A 26 year old working man was killed last night in the city. Kemmar Wade's body was found in a crashed car in front of the Lion's Den compound next to the KHMH. It was one more senseless murder: Wade was killed because of a dispute his friend had with someone else. Courtney Weatherburne has more on the murder motive and how Wade ended up in the Lion's Den compound.

To passersby, this late night accident may have looked like a fender bender in the BCVI compound, but really, this mishap is the tail end of a St. Jude Street shooting.

The victim - 26 year old Kemmar Wade was inside the car bleeding to death.

Wade had been renting a Mopan Street room for a couple years. His neighbor says he was at home last night hanging out by the front gate – which she says was strange since Wade usually kept to himself in his room.

Shanna Fuller - Friend
"The first time when I came out was after 9:00 he was at the first gate standing which in he is never out there so late. I hollered for him but he had on this headphone but he didn't hear me so hail him twice so he spin around at me and he ask me what so I asked him if he sees my oldest daughter coming and he look up and down and he say no and I say okay and I went in"

But Wade didn't go back to his room, information is that he got a call from someone and he left out in his vehicle. That is when the gunman pounced on him nearby on St. Jude Street. He was shot to the back of his head, and arm. Fighting to survive, Wade drove to the KHMH but slammed into the sidewalk. He didn't make it.

Wade's close friend is crushed by his death. He says Wade was killed because of an issue he had no part of – it was a dispute this friend had with someone else, and Wade was the collateral damage.

Voice of Close Friend
"A little small problem a dude approach me for my property we got in a fight, one thing led to the other, they pop my chain and I react in a way you know which I should not have done but at the same time they took my stuff, I could not let that slide like that."

To get back at the guy who stole his $2,000 chain, Wade's friend torched the robber's vehicle. Then to get back at him in turn, the robber killed his best friend, Wade – who was like a brother to our interview subject:

Voice of Close Friend
"They envy my brother because they know he lives close by so who have problem with me probably went back at him."

Courtney Weatherburne
"That person deliberately targeted your little brother?"

Voice of Close Friend
"Yes, they called him out of his house I tell him when you come from work you stay inside brethren before any altercation had happened I tell him stay inside do not go around, you keep to yourself, if you want hang out call me, I will come for you and you drive over in your car."

Courtney Weatherburne
"So you think they lured him to his death?"

Voice of Close Friend
"Yes somebody had to call him to let him come out because If I don't call him he will not move or so."

But that break in the daily routine cost Wade his life, now his family has to endure the pain of his loss.

Jacqueline Fitzgibbon - Mother
"He is always like mom I love you he always greet me with a hug and when he leaves he will give me a hug he is like that. He is like that, very friendly, he is loved by everyone."

Voice of Close Friend
"He was cool, he recently got a job, he try uplift himself, he always look up to me as a big brother, he look up to me and he know I always set the right order to put in place. We are about positivity, we are about own things, buy and sell, we are not about gang banging and nothing, we are not into troubling anybody if they don't trouble us. Kemmar we just close so I just have to continue show that love you know."

Wade lived in LA for most of his life. He moved back to Belize in 2011. He worked with Southwest airlines and also Delta. He leaves behind a 7 year old son in LA.
