And while big money was being spent on entertainment, the new Mayor says his predecessors were not paying taxes or social security.:

"We want to point out there that this city council has not paid in the employee income tax deductions to GOB since August of 2017, totally almost 173,000 dollars. Social security 40,000 still owed and not paid in; deducted from the employee but not paid in, is this the way we run business? We also note that the council has been accumulating large GST liabilities by not paying the GST tax which is on the invoice for waste control; 2.4 million and Belize Maintenance Limited 2.7 million and you can check the auditor's report, it's right there. Today, former Mayor Darrell Bradley told us via text, quote, "the reference to unpaid taxes is untrue. All taxes and social security have been paid" end quote.
