posted (April 27, 2018)
Hulse is not the only on that has something to say about the highly anticipated Agric fair this weekend. Alarmist threats have been sent out suggesting that gang members will be looking for five men during the fair.

But Deputy COMPOL Chester Williams ensured everyone that the police presence will be heavy and they are taking all the necessary steps to avoid any adverse event.

DCP Chester Williams
"In respect to the national agriculture which begins this evening and will come to an end on Sunday I would like to inform the Belizean public that the police will be at the show grounds in full force as well as on the highway to ensure that the show ground goes through peacefully and we know that there are certain rumors going around about threats against individuals at the show grounds but we can ensure the public we will do all we can to ensure the safety of every person that visists the National Agriculture Show grounds this weekend. Our police officers from the defensive unit will be assigned. We have our surveillance camera system installed. We also ask those visiting to also look after their own safety, take their own precautions, and we as the police will do the best we can to look at the safety of all."

And DCP Williams also spoke about the increased number of robberies lately. He said police will be stepping up operations countrywide to crack down on these crimes:

DCP Chester Williams
"We have also observed an increase in robberies so we will ensure that we contain the occurrences of these crimes. We have communicated with our commanders across the country to be able to mount checkpoints on the highway and monitor people that are moving in and out of the respective areas, as well as to go after those persons who we believe are likely to commit these kinds of crimes. We have also directed that the officers visit the business places, the gas stations, and ensure that they sign the register that might be there all to deter these acts from being committed. At the same time too we also want to ask the business owner to put in their own security measures. One way is to install cameras within the business establishment so that when things occur there will be some lead to give the police which will lead to the matter being solved."
