The cops aren't making the same kind of progress in Dangriga murder of 43 year-old Gabriel Laurie. He's the man from the Wagierale area of Dangriga who was found dead at his front door with a gunshot wound to the neck. We asked around and none of the neighbors could tell us what happened.
Apparently, the cops are having the same difficulty, and today, police told us that they had to release the suspects they had detained:

"Sometime after 10 in the morning police responded to shots being fired in the Wagierale area and as a result police visited a house which was being occupied at the time Gabriel Tex Laurie Jr., a 42 years old Belizean. Upon arrival police observe that the person had gunshot wounds to the body. The person was taken to the hospital where he pronounces dead. What police has gathered so far is that Mr. Laurie was inside of the house, when a male person entered the house and fired several shots at his direction. At this moment, we do not have a motive behind the shooting. I know that there were 3 persons detained, however they were released after they were interviewed and no further information was obtained from them."

"Shortly after the murder was discovered police were on high alert to try to locate the man who left Dangriga to Belize City. Was that person picked up by police, has he been questioned as well?"

"That person is not in custody as yet."

"Is that person still a person of interest?"
ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Yes, he is still a person of interest for this investigation."

"And no motive..."
ASP Alejandro Cowo
"So far we cannot establish the motive behind that murder."
Reports say there was a dispute over marijuana peddling.
As we told you, there is a main suspect who police have not been able to locate as yet. Best information says that this man left Dangriga hours after Laurie was killed.
