Former Mayor Answers His Predecessor
posted (April 30, 2018)
As you saw last week Thursday, City Mayor Bernard Wagner had a lot to say about his UDP predecessors at City Hall. He criticized them for reckless spending and fiscal indiscipline - and added that the council did not pay in to government employee's tax and social security deductions between August 2017 and the date of election.

Former Mayor Bradley had sent a text message in response saying that was untrue. Well, today, Bradley underscored that point, and advised Wagner to stop living in the past and embrace the future.

Darrell Bradley, Former Mayor
"But there is a reason why he can say all those things because records are there and we ensured we ran a city council that promoted and encouraged accountability and transparency, I still really stand by that as core principles of good administration. He can do an audit, he can talk about these issues, he can raise them because the records are right there. I believe that when he would have gone in the office of the Mayor the minutes of our council meetings are there, every contract we signed, the records are there, when we started it we printed 5 copies of every contract, the auditor has one, the director of finance has one, the contractor general has one and one is right in his office. I don't necessarily think there is a problem with someone doing a review."

"If you want to look in the past you can do that, I can take any lick you want to bring to me but look to the future, that would be my advice, people elect you for a certain responsibility and a certain job and that job is to make their lives better."
