Man Gets Free on 2012 Businessman Murder
posted (May 3, 2018)
It was a high profile murder back in 2012 when businessman Jermaine McNab was killed inside his hardware store in Belize City. But, today, almost exactly 6 years later, the man accused of his crime walked free - acquitted of murder in a trial without jury.

Anthony Carballo Junior - who was just 18 when he was first charged - walked free as a 24 year old today.

The prosecution was forced to close its case after Carballo said that his confession statement was given after police tasered him. Justice Colin Williams ruled the caution statement inadmissible. He found that the three witnesses for the crown, including the recording officer and the investigating officer along with the JP who witnessed the statement were all were evasive, crafty and dodging questions.

When the judge ruled the caution statement inadmissible, Senior Crown counsel, Sheneiza Smith closed her case. Carballo was represented by attorney, Oscar Selgado.
