Long Distance Leadercast
posted (May 4, 2018)
Today the Biltmore was packed with Belizeans ready to participate in one of the world's largest leadership seminars - which is called Leadercast. The seminar is actually held in Atlanta but countries all over the world live stream the seminar and for the third year in a row Chamberlain Consulting organized it in Belize. We stopped by at the Biltmore this morning and found that this year's event had another all-star line up of speakers.

Teresita Perez Martinez, Chamberlain Consultants- Chief Implementation Consultant
"This year our theme is leading yourself. This year we are focusing on you as an individual. Understanding that you need to be able to take care of yourself, make sure that you're in a good state of mind health wise, minds, soul-wise, spiritual wise before you are able to lead other people. We understand there is a vacuum of leadership not just in Belize or the Caribbean but worldwide so that is why we bring this conference to Belize every year because it is important for us to focus on building our people, our Belizean people so they can take what they have learnt and build it in to society to lead other people."

"We are doing a live stream. The talks that we are watching today are happening at the same time in Atlanta. We have nine dynamic speakers who have themselves really overcome obstacles within their lives to show us that it is possible for us to be leaders."

"We have people like May Jemson who was the first female woman of colour to go to space. We have people like Jen Bricker who is an acrobat and aerialist. Even though she was born without legs she overcame all of the odds and has won many awards and medals. We really have a wide variety of people who can show us from their own example that we can do anything we set our mind too."

"When the speakers are done talking we do a moderation. We take the feedback we get from our participants every year seriously. They decided they don't want moderators. They wanted to moderate the sessions themselves so whenever a session is done our two hosts Dionne Chamberlain and Father Matt Rule really bring the group together and the different tables then take with them whatever they have learnt and share with us what are the highlights they have learnt and we can use it in the Belizean context. What can we take what we have learnt and do differently?"

Belize is one of only five countries in the Caribbean that streams the seminar. A total of 250 persons attended this year.
