Crushed and mangled beyond recognition. The other truck craned on its side.

Headless swine carcasses splayed on the pavement - cargo from one of the trucks. And not too far off, a BATSUB Truck lodged in the bushes.

That was the scene at mile 32 on the Western Highway. The 3 vehicle collision happened around 10:45 this morning. The driver for one of the vehicles was killed due to the massive impact.

BATSUB soldiers were on the scene assessing the damage and trying to get help to clear the wreckage off the side of the road.

While passersby looked on in bewilderment - trying to make sense of what happened. The police have a basic outline.

Chester Williams, Deputy Commissioner, Operations
"There the police saw 3 vehicles: two pick-up trucks and a BATSUB vehicle. They collided into each other. Apparently, two of the vehicles were traveling to the direction of Belize City and one was traveling to the direction of Belmopan when a collision occurred and that collision resulted in the death of a male Hispanic person from the Valley of Peace area."

Fortunately, none of the other occupants were harmed.

Chester Williams, Deputy Commissioner, Operations
"The other individuals were okay. As a matter of fact when the ambulance arrived the other individuals would not even seek medical attention as they were walking around, they appeared to be okay."
