Today the World Intellectual Property Organization along with its partners were in day 2 a 3 day workshop. The workshop focuses on the importance of intellectual property and how business can use IP to enhance competitiveness. Here's more from the workshop coordinators.

"Well overall the workshop is to create an awareness of what intellectual Property is all about and how the use of registering your trade mark, registering your inventions, registering your design can be an added value to anyone's business whether you are starting up, whether it is a traditional industry that you are a part of or a new and emerging one."
"When we look at intellectual property any ideas that you create from your mind again ideas can't be registered unless it is in tangible format that is why we encourage that you to come into our office which is situated in Belmopan and register your ideas that you have expressed. So whether it is a slogan or numbers, whether it is your name, trade mark is there for your brand, whether it is an invention you have created patent is there to capture it, whether it is even music or in the creative industry writing a book you have copyright and whether it is the simple artistic design or the wood carvings that you put on the table or embroidery that you put on a bag you have the industrial act to capture that so there is every elements to what can be protected under this topic called intellectual property."
