Policing Gang Warfare Like Fighting Fires With Water Pistols
posted (May 9, 2018)
And while they pray for peace - the police must always prepare to contain gang warfare. We asked Williams about the ongoing crime in this area and he said they are taking measures to turn the city around but sometimes rivalries flare up unexpectedly.

Chester Williams - Deputy Compol
"Our crime fighting strategy continues, we continue to look at it. It is something that keeps growing, we need to always revisit it to see where we can make adjustments. And, yes we have had a few spikes in between but those are always expected. You would understand that whenever there is a gang flare-up that it will require additional police activities where the flare-up is occurring. And so, we have now reconfigured our operations, we have looked at our deployment of the men on the ground with a view of seeing how we can stem the flare-up. And while we do that we conduct interventions and mediations with the different groups that are affected with a view to see how we can minimize these occurrences within these respective areas. So, it is a work in progress, we don't expect that things will change overnight. We came to where we are over a period of time and it will take a period of time for us to get back to where we want to be."
