posted (May 9, 2018)
In more drug news…the Honduran Press is reporting that their coast guard intercepted a narco vessel headed for Belize, and loaded with 700 pounds of cocaine.

The authorities reportedly made the discovery on Sunday, April 29. The vessel, "Angeline", flying the Panamanian national flag, was intercepted by the Honduran military and police in Puerto Castillo, Colon, Honduras. The crew included 2 Colombians and 2 Hondurans. Press reports indicate that they were initially released because nothing illegal was found on the first search of the vessel.

It was later transported to the Puerto Cortez Naval Base, and with the help of the American Authorities, Honduran law enforcement found the drugs parcelled off in these many yellow packages and hidden onboard. The men intended to leave Honduras by land, but before they could do so, they were intercepted and taken into custody.

The Honduran authorities say that the vessel had sailed on April 26 from Providencia, Colombia, and it was bound for Belize. If the cargo successfully been smuggled here, it is believed that they would have been destined for the US.

All 4 have been arrested, and they will face drug trafficking charges.

The Honduran authorities estimate the street value of this cargo to be around 5 million US dollars.
