posted (May 10, 2018)
He was accused of a broad daylight murder on the busiest street in the country, but After 6 years on remand, 24 year old Dennis Matura is a free man. Matura was charged with the 2012 murder of 23 year old Michael Garbutt. The Crown Counsel Rene Montero declared it a "Nolle Pros" case after the two eye witnesses could not identify Matura as the gunman. The eyewitnesses said that they only saw the shooter's profile for less than 10 seconds and he wore a peak cap. So Matura walked free.

On April 4th, 2012 around 2:30 in the afternoon Garbutt was shot in the head on Albert Street. It happened in front of D and D Restaurant.

Matura was represented by attorney Leeroy Banner.
