City Hall Refused To Re-Instate Terminated Union Employees
posted (May 15, 2018)
But we did get word from the council on a meeting with the Christian Workers Union - which represents two of the 6 workers who were fired last week. The release says, quote "Today, the Belize City Council met with the Christian Workers Union Executive and their employees' representative. Both sides conveyed their concerns. However, the council remained resolute that there will not be any reinstatement of the employees that were let go and the council does wish them the best." End quote.

The statement came after 5:00 and, a few minutes ago, CWU President Mose Hyde sent us this statement, quote: "We are extremely disappointed with the Council's decision to deny the request for our members to be reinstated.

The union is forced to take our grievances to the Labour Commissioner, to have his intervention on this matter."
