Patt Manslaughter Suspects Charged
posted (May 15, 2018)
Today, the three men accused of causing the death of Demetrio Patt were taken back to the Orange Walk Magistrate's Court where their charges were upgraded to manslaughter.

After a night in the detention cell, Carlos Westby, Deltran Perez, and Leodigario Chan were marched to Orange Walk Magistrate's Court this morning in handcuffs. They had already been charged for wounding and dangerous harm - and now they are charged with manslaughter.

Police say that they beat up Demetrio Patt and his brother after the siblings crashed into their parked car in Trial Farm on Friday April 27th. Carlos Westby's family maintains that the story about the beatdown is false, and that the post mortem has confirmed that Patt died of injuries due to the traffic accident. Indeed, a post mortem yesterday found that he had died of spinal injuries consistent with quote, "whiplash syndrome."

The men received 5,000 dollars bail, plus one surety of the same amount. They return to court on August 15th.
