The Urological Solution
posted (May 15, 2018)
We've reported extensively on the One Struggle the group that brings together those affected by gun violence. The group has done a lot of work with not only direct victims of violence but also with family members of the deceased, and today we found they are doing more. They are seeking free medical treatment for victims of gun violence.

Urologists from the United States will be here on Sunday in Corozal and Dangriga. Since urological complications often follow gunshot injuries, The One Struggle group is offering free transportation to people who would also like to be examined.

"Why is this of particular interest to persons who have been affected by gun violence?"

Judith Enriquez, One Struggle
"Reason for that is because from the One Struggle group we have about 7 men in wheelchairs and they have been having problems with stones urinary problem. For the most part, most of them use the catheter because of their mobility."

"Now, this kind of specialty is not widely available in Belize? Like you can't receive treatment for this as easily as you can for other types of conditions."

Judith Enriquez
"Yes, you can but it is costly and this group that is coming is a missionary group from the US they are providing free treatment. We are asking the people that are coming to have at least $25 for the cost of the usage of the hospital in Dangriga or Corozal."

"We from the One Struggle group are extending an invitation for transportation for people who are survivors of gun violence."

If you would like to see the specialist and need transport you can call Phillip Willougby at 615-9793, Judith Enriquez 630-4824, or Nicole Baptist at 627-9170.
