Police Have To Use DNA To Find Out Who Was Burnt In Home
posted (May 17, 2018)

And another case of arson is more confounding and sinister than that one.  As we showed you last night, it happened on the outskirts of Belmopan where 4 houses were burnt down, and a man’s charred remains were found in the rubble.

Those 4 structures were in a yard on Jordan Ranch road, which is an area of the old Banana Bank road, across the George Price Highway from the airstrip, at the entrance of Belmopan.

It’s a case of arson - and whoever set the fire probably also meant to burn the person inside. So now it is also being treated as a murder.

But who is the person that was burned to death inside?

Police told the press today that the owner of one of the houses is missing, and they are trying to determine if the charred remains are his:

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head, NCIB
"Police responded to an area on the Banana Bank Road opposite the Belmopan airstrip where upon arrival they were briefed by fire department personnel that they were called to the scene of a fire around 12:30 PM on Tuesday the 15th May and sometime later in the evening around 5 PM while sifting through the rubble they came across human remains in the rubble. As a result the police were called, the scene was processed and on yesterday's date the scene was visited by the forensic pathologist. Thereafter the remains were taken to the Western Regional Hospital where a post mortem was conducted for which the cause was undetermined due to chard bones."

Daniel Ortiz
"Has the identity of this particular victim been identified as yet?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"No not so far but we know that the premises was occupied by one Bruce Davidson, a British national."

Daniel Ortiz
"Is he missing?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"Yes we has not been found."

Reporter
"Now sir Mr. Bruce apparently had two dogs and a silver in color pickup truck. Has any of those been discovered or found? Is it believed that maybe it a robbery and then murder covered by this arson that took place?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"Well up to date I know for certain that the pickup truck hasn't been found and the police remain on the ground conducting their investigation within that area."

Reporter
"Is it being treated as a murder sir?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
“Well, we are working along with fire personnel and the preliminary report we got from the fire department; verbal report from the fire department is that they suspect that the cause of the burning down of the building was arson."

The body is suspected to be that of proprietor of the farm, Bruce Davidson, who is still missing.   Police have taken DNA samples and will see if it matches with one of his family members.

The cops don’t have any suspects at this time.
