A Seine Byte Shooting
posted (May 17, 2018)

A man from Seine Byte Village on the Placencia Peninsula is hospitalized tonight for gunshot wounds he suffered after narrowly escaping what looks to be an execution attempt on his life.

At around 7:30 p.m., 25 year-old Austin Williams was standing on a street on the south end of the village. He was in the company of another man, identified to us as Ralph Forbes, when a gunman came up from behind them and immediately turned his weapon on Williams.

That assailant shot him 2 times: 1 to the left upper back, and another to the lower part of his cheek. Police told us more:

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head, NCIB
"On Wednesday 16th May shortly after 7:30 PM police responded to information of a shooting in Seine Bight village in the Stann Creek district. Upon arrival one Austin Williams reported to police while standing at a street corner with a friend they were approached by a male person who fired several shots, two of which caught Austin Williams; one to the left lower back and one to the left cheek. Police are seeking one suspect and this an ongoing investigation."

Daniel Ortiz
"Could you speak to the condition of Mr. Williams at this time sir?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"He is in a stable condition."

Daniel Ortiz
"At the hospital where? Southern... Has he been able to assist  investigators since he's stable?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"I believe that we are in the process of doing that now since it was last night that the shooting incident occurred."

Reporter
"I know sir this early stage of the investigation but is police anywhere close to determine a motive for this crime?”

ACP Joseph Myvette
"No, not as yet but we are looking for one suspect."

The cops say that the victim had no history with police.
