Accountant Shot In Palmar
posted (May 17, 2018)

There was also a shooting in quiet Palmar Village in the Orange Walk District.

It happened last night at 11:5 when 32 year-old Jose Oscar Santana was in his yard.  A gunman emerged from the bushes of an overgrown lot right next his property.

The shooter opened fire on him, but Santana managed to get away with only a single gunshot wound on his right arm.

The cops told us today that they’re trying to get some answers:

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head, NCIB
"On yesterday's date shortly after 11:20 PM police responded to a shooting incident in San Jose Palmar village Orange Walk district where upon arrival met one Jose Santana who had one gunshot injury to the right arm. He reported that whilst in his yard moving towards the gate he heard several shots and realized that he was shot to the right arm. Mr. Santana lives opposite an unoccupied overgrown lot from where police conducted searches and recovered 8 expended 9mm shells."

Daniel Ortiz
"So it would appear that the shooter was hiding in those bushes to fire at the gentleman?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"Yes that is what the investigation is leading to."

Daniel Ortiz
"Are police having difficulty with this particular case given the nature of the circumstances?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"Well it is a very young investigation and the officers are following through this morning to see how far we can get with this investigation."

Santana was treated for his injuries at the Northern Regional Hospital, and has since discharged himself.
