Not Guilty After 6 Years On Remand
posted (May 18, 2018)
After 6 years on remand, 33 year old Leon Yorke was found not guilty today. In 2012, he was accused of the murder of 43 year old construction worker David John Myvett.

Early on the morning of October 31, 2012, Myvett was cementing a street as part of a construction crew when a gunman came up and shot him multiple times to the body.

The trial without jury was before Justice Adolph Lucas and Crown Counsel Sheringe Rodriguez, relied on the statement of one eye witness James Noralez.

Problem is, James Noralez was murdered but his statement was admitted as evidence while the other witness was deemed hostile because he recanted on the statement he gave the police in which he had identified Yorke as the shooter.

Because of that there was no conclusive ID for the shooter. With that, Justice Lucas said the Crown had not adduced enough evidence to make him feel sure that Yorke was the shooter. So, easy as that, Yorke was acquitted. He was represented by attorney Oscar Selgado.
