20 Year Old Roaring Creek Resident Missing, Feared Dead
posted (May 22, 2018)
Tonight a Roaring Creek mother is desperate to find her son. 20 year old Oswald Arnold left his home on Thursday the 17th after 5:00 in the evening. His mother, Rosita Orellana says Arnold told her that he was going to the river with friends and he would be back on Friday. He never returned. Although it is hard for Orellana to accept, she says she has lost all hope in finding her son alive. Here is what she had to say.

Rosita Orellana- Mother
"He came home and told me that he was going to the river with some of his friends but he did not come back."

Courtney Weatherburne- Reporter
"Does he normally go out with his friends to the river?"

Rosita Orellana
"Not to the river but he would usually go out with them. I realized on Friday evening that he went missing because the friends that he went with all of them have come back except him. Everyone came back in the village and he is the only one that didn't come back. So, that is what came to my attention. I went and asked around to see if they saw him but they said they hadn't seen because they never did go where they said they were going. So far, they know who do it and the person that did it, they know what they did to my son. It is wrong what they did to my son because my son took them as friends. Every day that is the place that he would go to hang out, with them. I always talk to him but he doesn't listen to me. You know, when you have a certain age all you can do is talk to your children and they don't listen. It is wrong what they did to him."

Courtney Weatherburne
"So, you believe and you are convinced that killed your son."

Rosita Orellana
"I know because he never goes away for so long. And when he goes anywhere he will tell me, mom I will go to this place and that and I will come back. And he is someone that never sleeps out. So, only they know what they did to him and it is like what I say, my son is not a saint. He was in jail and came out 5 months from the exact date of the 17th of May. So, I will not say my son is a saint but they don't have any right to do my son what they did to him. We went two days straight looking for him up and down the river like we are crazy and found nothing. We got some information but nothing is leading to what they are telling us. Nothing is leading to what they are telling us all these days that we are on the search. Today, another search team is out with the police but we have nothing as yet. I know that we won't find him alive because these are too much days already. The only thing is I want his body back, for closure. If they would only know how it feels, if they would only put themselves in my shoes they would know because it is so hard. It is hard."

Numerous searches have been done in the river near the Iguana Creek Bridge in Spanish Lookout. The police continued that search today but still no sign of Arnold. Police are questioning Arnold's friends.
