Woman Dead, Hit and Run Driver Caught

So far tonight, we've already told you about five murders, and one missing man who is feared dead. But there were still two more traumatic deaths - both involved women killed in separate hit and run accidents.

The first happened on Friday night at 7:30 between miles 45 and 46 on the George Price Highway.

30 year old Silvia ZAVALA from Belmopan was driving a motorbike from Cotton Tree Village to Belmopan and was hit from behind by a taxi, and violently flung unto the side of the road - where she was found dead.

The taxi fled the scene but Belmopan police, moving with their characteristic swiftness caught up with the man they believe to be the driver in just 24 hours.

Here's what police had to say about the fatal accident and the arrest today:..

"On Friday, shortly after 7:30 pm police responded to an information of a hit and run between miles 46 and 47 on the George Price Highway where upon arrival a motorcycle was seen on the road extensively damaged and a female who was later identified as Silvia Zavala was seen motionless. Police investigation into this matter revealed that she was traveling from Cotton Tree enroute to Belmopan direction when she was knocked down by a vehicle which did not stop. Our information into this matter that led to the detention of one, Earl Wright 46 years taxi driver from Camalote Village who has since been arrested and charged from manslaughter my negligence, causing that by careless conduct and failed to stop and render aid."

46 year old EARL WRIGHT from Camalote Village was charged for Manslaughter by Negligence, causing death by careless conduct, failure to stop and render aid, and drove motor vehicle without due care and attention.
