67 miles of the Phillip Goldson Highway will be paved and upgraded - that is from mile 24 and a half in Biscayne Village to the northern border at mile 92. The contract for the design of this road upgrade project was signed today in Belmopan. Here is more from the signing.
The Ministry of Works signed the contract along with the British Consultancy firm Mott MacDonald Ltd. They will provide consultancy services for $2.1 million US dollars.
In terms of the overall national highway infrastructure, 90 percent of the major roads have been upgraded. The Coastal road is the only one remaining and the Ministry is working on the design for that road.
