Police apprehended a murder suspect in the killing of an innocent man - but, late reports say, he has escaped. 18 year old Jordan Burns was named by police yesterday as a person wanted for questioning in connection with the murder of Carlton Moreira. By this morning, he was in custody at the CIB office at the Queen Street Police Station. But, somehow, this evening around 5:00 reports tell us that he escaped from police and is on the run again tonight.
34 year old Carlton Moreira was killed in an alley between Lakeview and Mayflower Street on Wednesday afternoon. Initial reports say that he had won a substantial sum of money from a Boledo draw. But what investigators have learned is that it is his friend who won the Boledo - more than two thousand dollars. Word of that got around the neighborhood, and a young man tried to rob this friend. Moreira - who is from the neighborhood - protected his friend and put a stop to the robbery. He was then targeted for death from within his own community.
Late reports say that Burns - who is now at large - had already been charged for Moreira's murder earlier today.
