Safeguarding the forest is becoming increasingly complex and involved, and that's why 59 forest rangers have been trained as police special constables. They were sworn in today, equipped with knowledge and skills to effectively enforce all aspects of the green law legislation. They also learnt how to use a number of innovative law enforcement techniques like investigative skills, search and seizure, and gathering court evidence.
The Forest Department will now formally establish its Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement Unit countrywide.
