Quick Cops Catch Robbers, All Familiar Faces

The second significant robbery happened on Saturday afternoon in Belize City. Robbers held up a fast food restaurant on the southside - but police were quick to set chase and caught the robbers. ASP COWO TOLD US MORE:...

"On Saturday just about 4:30pm, the Jollibees Restaurant was held up by 3 male persons. At present in the establishment was the manager of the restaurant Mr. Kumar, along with other Indian decent medical students who were having lunch at the time, when 3 male persons entered; one with a firearm and they held up the students along with the manager and the 2 employees that were inside of the restaurant. Stolen from them were assorted items being cell phones, cash and the cash register and other monies that the person had. Police quick response in the area led to the detention of 4 male persons who are presently detained and police are looking for charges to be levied against them sometime today."

"So now did they had to lead a pursuit to catch these individuals? Did they escape in a car?"

"They escaped in a vehicle where police pursued them and they found most of the belongings that were reported stolen from the patrons and from the manager of Jollibees."

"Are the suspects known to police?"

"They are well known to police. They had been in custody several times and they have been charged several times of these same offences."

Today in court, 3 men were charged with 5 counts of robbery at Jollibees. They are 19 year old Lemar lamb, his brother, 18 year old Robert lamb and 20 year old Irwin Palma. They pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were arraigned today by Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford. Because a firearm was used, they were remanded into custody until August 28. Robert Lamb, who is a student was charged with burglary about 2 weeks ago and he released on bail of $6,000 The burglary occurred at Kim's shop on Antelope Street extension and the item stolen was a grey metal safe that contained $15,500.

In this case, they are accused of stealing the cash register from the restaurant which contained $1,200.
