Robbers Make Off with 30k in PG Home Invasion
posted (May 29, 2018)
A pair of thieves stole over $30,000 in cash and items from a store in Punta Gorda, and, so far, Police have detained one man.

The robbery played out like a home invasion - which is very unusual for the sleepy southern town.

On Sunday morning around 9:00 at James Store on Jose Maria Nunez Street, owner Huigiang Chen was asleep in his bedroom. His wife Yanhi Huang came into the room but behind her were two men with handguns. They pointed the gun at Huang's head and demanded money. Chen then handed them a bag with $20,000 cash and his 9mm Beretta brand pistol, loaded with 15 live rounds.

And if that was not enough, the robbers then took $300 from the cash registers, tow cell phones and the security camera DVR, all to a total value of $31,300. Police have one person from the Indianville area detained. They were seen circling the area on motorbike.
