A Roof Over Their Heads…
posted (May 31, 2018)
Last month, we showed you how members of the business community teamed up to donate a police booth to the officers on West Canal.

Officers at crime hotspots like that one are placed there to stand guard on an almost permanent basis, and to shelter from the sun and the rain, they have to hide under tents, which don't offer any real protection

So, now those on Orange Street, right at the mouth of the infamous Taylor's Alley - which has seen multiple homicides - have gotten one of their own.

It's a donation from Brothers Habet, who wanted to show these hard-working officers some appreciation for their efforts.

We stopped by and found out more this morning:

The booths cost an average of $3,000 to build. The police department is hoping that other businesses will reach out to donate more booths.
