Police have not made any arrests in yesterday's audacious armed robbery at Hofius in the heart of Belize City's downtown. 7News has learned that - contrary to what we were told yesterday - Hofius does have multiple security cameras. Police say that so far they haven't been able to identify the armed robbers with certainty but are looking at a number of suspects. At a few minutes before 1:00 yesterday, two men strode into Hofius and one of them pulled out a chrome .38 pistol and pointed it at the cashier. His accomplice opened the cash register and snatched over a thousand dollars in cash along with some cheques.
Again, the brazen crime suggests organized criminals who are scouting locations and tracking the police movements, since they know that presently, the bulk of the city's police manpower is concentrated in the gang hotspots.
