Kid Pulls Gun on Cops, Father Disputes Police Account
posted (June 4, 2018)
A 13 year old boy is accused of pulling a gun on the GSU in Belize City this weekend - and the cops shot him in the legs to stop the teen from firing first.

Police recovered the gun - and the child is in the hospital under police guard.

It's a first - a young kid, pulling a gun on the cops - now, either society has passed another milestone on the road to ruin, or the cops have it wrong.

The boy's father says it's the latter; he says his son did not have a firearm and the police used indiscriminate force. He spoke plainly and was happy to so, but we have to blur his face to protect the child's identity:...

"He said he is coming to his granny to come and get bread and bun. He usually comes here every Saturday to get bread and bun but coming here I understand that my son was coming up top and truckloads from both directions chased him. They said he had a gun in a bag but how could they see through a bag."

"I want to get an attorney to go and question my son so my son can talk. They charged him. They gave him about 6 or 7 charge sheets at the hospital. I have not touched any of them because they charged him while I was not around. He is only 13 years old. I have a lot of questions to ask Chester just like he asked me."

"The number of shots that were fired at my son I am not happy with. Then they rushed inside the house. When the crime scene came to investigate they could not find the backpack with the gun that my son had on his back. The GSU took it. I was right here, they picked up shells. One there and 2,3,4 and the 6ht one is right here."

"The force of those 8 bullets to shoot at a minor. They said he had the gun in his bag, how can they see through a bag? They are trying to cover up because they shot my son innocently so they are trying all kinds of things."

Sahar Vasquez, reporter
"They are saying he was pointing the gun."

"Yes, that is what they are saying but my son does not play with any guns. He does not even have a record. My son is a hardworking young man."

Sahar Vasquez
"What was he charged for?"

Voice of: Father of Shooting Victim
"Aggravated assault and other things. I did not even look at it because I work for an attorney so I know what is going on. He is a minor. A justice of the peace should be there when they are charging him the parents must be there and I was not present so I just left the charge sheet right there."

The minor is still recovering at the hospital and remains under tight police guard. As soon as he is released he will be charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition along with aggravated assault.
