Police Strongly Reject Assertion that Police Planted Gun on 13 Year Old
posted (June 6, 2018)

Another topic that the press asked Williams about is the shooting of the 13 year-old boy over the weekend. You'll remember officers of the Gang Suppression Unit say that he pulled a weapon on them after they chased him down, and in order to disarm him, they shot him in the foot.

His dad has spoken to the press to dispute the police account, saying that his child is innocent. He has since made the media rounds, alleging that police planted the gun on the boy.

Williams told the press this evening, that this is the furthest thing from the truth:

DCP Chester Williams - OC, Operations
"On the day in question police received a tip that a child was carrying a firearm. The police responded, they saw the young man, he was approached and he was ordered by the police to stop. He tried to elude the police, he took out a gun, he pointed at the police and the police fired shots. From what we know there is no evidence to suggest that the police officers planted any gun on that young man. If a matter of fact, after he was shot or even during the time when he was shot his grandmother was there and she was the first on the scene and she saw the gun and when she went to where he was and she saw the gun, she asked him, what are you doing with that because she saw the gun. So for anyone to make any allegation without any basis to suggest that the police officer had planted that gun on the young man I say is totally wrong and should not be tolerated and as sensible people in the media, I would ask that you go and make checks with the grandmother which I'm sure she'll be honest enough to tell  you that the police planted no gun on her grandson."
