It didn't make the news, but at the end of May, thirty-one year old Honduran Maria Estrella Jimenez Ortega, was charged for attempted human trafficking.
Between September 1 and September 30, 2016, Ortega attempted to solicit a 17 year old female to have sex with some fishermen at Caye Caulker. The female, however, refused the offer.
She was remanded but went to the Supreme Court for bail today. Ortega. who is pregnant went before Justice Adolph Lucas and he granted her fifteen thousand dollars bail. Her bail was offered on the condition that she reports to Caye Caulker Police every Friday, among others. Ortega was represented by attorney Anthony Sylvestre.
