There was a daring armed robbery this morning - but this one happened in Ladyville. A trio of robbers lay in wait for a female employee who works with a collection agency. Reports are that at around 10:00, she was walking out of Sky Supermarket to go over to the Belize Bank which is in the same complex. That's when a robber snatched her money bag. Now, this happened right in front of the airport junction, the busiest intersection in Ladyville.
A businessman pulled up at that same time and set chase after the robbers. They dashed through a back street and hopped over a fence - where their escape car was waiting around the corner. The businessman grabbed one of the robbers, who dropped the money bag in the bushes. But it was one against three, and that's when the man in the car pulled out his gun - and the businessman fired at him. But, the shot missed and all three escaped - leaving the money bag behind. The businessman did manage to grab one of the robber's shirts - and that shirtless suspect was caught entering Belize City on a bus an hour later. He is in custody while police are seeking two others. Thanks to the bravery of this businessman, half the money - about two thousand, five hundred dollars was recovered. The other half is unaccounted for.
