posted (June 11, 2018)
Two young men were targeted for death in the comfort of their homes this weekend. 26 year old Phylmore King was sitting on his verandah when someone known to him shot him in the head, while 22 year old Eugene Henderson was sitting in cousin's couch when an intruder walked in and shot him in the head. King died, while Henderson somehow survived. We have both their stories, starting with King who was killed at around 7:45 on Saturday morning.:...

Jules Vasquez reporting
Early on Saturday morning, police responded to a shooting at this home on Peter Lewis Street in Hattieville where they found 26 year old Phylmore King dead on his own veranda.

The scenes of crime processed the scene of a veranda execution by someone familiar:

Tasheena King, Sister of Deceased
"Yes, he was sitting on the veranda railing and he was talking to a fellow and I guess by the time he turn his head, that's when they shot him in his head. I guess that guy had to hold a conversation, had to be someone he knew."

Police say that someone is Nineteen year old Darnell Arnold - a Hattieville resident.

Tasheena King, Sister of Deceased
"That would be the guy that was sitting on the veranda holding the conversation with him."

Reporter
"So, he knew your brother and he killed him cold like that?"

Tasheena King, Sister of Deceased
"Just like that, early in the morning. That person had to go to sleep with that on his mind - jump up and execute what he had to do and when he done he went not knowing what he had done to us."

They did it in the presence of his 10 year old sister - who heard the noise and found her brother with three shots to the head. His older sister Tasheena had just left for work.

Tasheena King, Sister of Deceased
"A friend told me and then when I took out my phone then I saw the 29 missed calls. All I could have said no, not my brother, because he wasn't supposed to leave me."

He didn't leave, he was taken away, first by the killer, and then, by police who bundled the 26-year-old in a cloth and eased him down the stairs.

The body left to the sound of wailing loved one - who just COULDN'T understand it:

But, could there be a clue in his past? In early April Phylmore King was busted for a major weed trafficking move at the northern border. they had 60 pounds of weed stuffed in car tires and two dozen live rounds of ammunition:

Reporter
"We know that Phylmore King probably only 6 weeks earlier have been charged for trafficking marijuana at the border and obviously he was involved in that case. Might this be somehow related to with that case where he was accused of trafficking marijuana?"

Insp. Wilfred Ferrufino, CIB - Belize City
"I don't have any information in regards to that what you are indicating."

Reporter
"Was that drugs bust in any way related to his killing you believe?"

Tasheena King, Sister of Deceased
"I cannot say. I don't have the answer to that, so I don't know."

Reporter
"Was he fearing for his life?"

Tasheena King, Sister of Deceased
"No, he was not. He always spent time with us home, so he still hangs out with his friends, so he wasn't fearing his life at all."

Reporter
"Was your brother involved in illicit activity? Was he a peddler?"

Tasheena King, Sister of Deceased
"No, after that drug deal he was calm. He wasn't into that anymore. He was supposed to go to work. He was supposed to start working back with my dad on Monday. So am figuring that it had to be someone that knew he was going away to start working."

The execution of a man who obviously was in trouble, but wasn't known to be any kind of trouble maker

Tasheena King, Sister of Deceased
"He is a loving person. He always wanted to give us hugs. He always run jokes. He's just a loving person. You can ask anyone from the village. They would tell you not Phylmore."

Importantly, Tasheena King says she has no familiarity with the accused killer - but believes he was having a conversation with her brother on the verandah and then shot him in the head.

Today, Nineteen year old Darnell Arnold, a construction worker of mile 16 and half, Hattieville, was charged with the Philmore King's murder when he appeared before Chief Magistrate, Sharon Fraser. She remanded him into custody until July 24. Arnold was arrested and charged on Sunday, June 10.

Phylmore King had no kids and had only recently returned from the states last year.

One of the last persons to visit him was reportedly one of the co-accused in his drug trafficking case.
