Brian Hyde Gets Four Life Sentences In Florida
posted (June 12, 2018)
Roaring Creek resident Brian Hyde has been sentenced to life in prison in Florida. In April, the 22 year old was found guilty of killing his aunt, Dorla Pitts, her 17 year old daughter, Starlette Pitts and her 19 year old boyfriend Michael Deon Kelly Jr in Florida.

He was sentenced yesterday to four life terms - for the deaths of those three and his cousin Starlette Pitts' unborn child. Hyde used a machete to kill 37-year-old Dorla Pitts, 17-year-old Starlette Pitts and 19-year-old Michael Deon Kelly Jr. at their Lehigh Acres home in 2015. Prosecutors added the additional murder charge for Starlette Pitts' unborn child. Kelly was stabbed 32 times, while Starlette Pitts was stabbed 10 times - and found only partially clothed. Forensic experts found that Hyde's semen was inside his cousin's body and that his DNA was on her body.

According to one US news outlet, Hyde - who is originally from the Roaring Creek area - will serve his full sentence in the US and will not face deportation proceedings because he has been convicted.

Hyde was an illegal immigrant in the US - and may have been trying to flee Belize where he faced minor charges for theft and handling stolen goods, but was also a person of interest in at least on still unsolved murder. He is the nephew of the notorious Roaring Creek figure Russell Hyde who was killed three years ago. During trial, Hyde testified that he did not remember killing his family and spoke about the trauma he sustained in Belize where many of his family members were killed.
